Roll into a meet with color chasing under the car and clean white light in the footwells, and someone will ask what kit you are running. That question is what the best car LED lights buy you.
XKGLOW builds app-controlled RGB and RGBW accent lighting, so this guide maps its car lineup by zone: cabin, underside, grille and body lines, then rock lights and wheel rings. Each section names the kits and points you to a deeper guide. Headlight bulbs are a separate purchase, and they stay outside this guide.
Four Questions Before You Buy Car LED Lights
The best LED light for a car depends on what you want it to do. Four answers narrow the catalog fast.
Where should the light land? Interior kits light the footwells, dash seams and door panels. Underglow tubes light the ground beneath the car. Grille bars and panel-gap strips outline the front and the body lines. Rock lights and wheel rings add color down low and behind the wheels.
Do you want true white as well as color? An RGBW kit pairs RGB chips with dedicated white chips, so white gets its own LED. XKGLOW's XKmax underglow, rock light and wheel ring kits are RGBW. The Atomix strips and the fiber-optic interior kit are addressable RGB, without a dedicated white chip.
How will you run it? Most kits in this guide pair over Bluetooth with the XKmax app. A programmable 4-button key fob comes with some kits and is an add-on for others. The older XKchrome products, the dome bulb among them, use the separate XKchrome app. The remote-only UFO kit has no app at all.
On the XKmax underglow, rock light and wheel ring kits, three sensor wires can sync the lights with your turn signals, brakes and courtesy lights. Those kits also carry 28+ chasing themes and sync to music, vehicle speed or acceleration.
Will you add more later? XKmax kits grow by add-on. The rock light kit, the standard XKmax wheel ring kit and the grille bar offer a 4-channel controller upgrade for $24. The XKmax Slim Flexible RGBW strip is sold on its own and works only with XKmax series products. If a second zone is likely, start in the XKmax line.
Car LED Lights for the Cabin
Inside the car, XKGLOW covers three jobs plus the dome light. For the floor, the XKmax LED Underglow Light Kit sells an interior-only tier with four RGBW flex strips. They go in the front and rear footwells.
Fiber optic handles the seams. The XKmax RGB Fiber Optic LED Interior Ambient Light Kit uses trimmable fiber strips, sold as Dash, 2 Doors, 4 Doors and Dash + 4 Doors kits. Expect trim work: the install could require taking off dash and door panels.
For the whole cabin, the ULTRA interior kit (MX-FO-ULTRA) pairs fiber optic on the body panels with flex strips in the footwells and door pockets. Its base kit covers four doors plus the dash, and the RF key fob is in the box.
The dome light needs no strips. XKGLOW's LED Dome Light Bulb Kit is a coin-sized Bluetooth bulb that directly replaces the existing interior bulb. T10, BA9s and festoon adapters come in the kit.
Two guides go further: the interior install guide walks each XKmax kit step by step, and the dome bulb swap covers sockets, pairing and fixes.
Under Car LED Lights: Underglow Kits
Four XKGLOW underglow kits are covered here. The Underbody Kit of the XKmax underglow kit runs eight 24-inch tubes of addressable RGBW LEDs. Step up to the Interior + Underbody Kit and you add the four interior strips, a 4-channel controller and a key fob.
The XKmax ULTRA Aluminum LED Underglow Light Kit moves to IP67 aluminum tubes with end-to-end connections, for a gapless line. XKGLOW's own rating puts it at 2.7x the brightness of the standard XKmax car kit. You choose the side length, from 5 to 8 feet, and 2-foot tubes cover the front and rear.
For control without an app, the Underglow LED Accent Light Kit, Million Color UFO with Remote runs on a remote with music sync. Each of its 24-inch tubes can show two colors in 12-inch sections. XKGLOW's original XKchrome line also offers Underglow + Interior LED Accent Light Kits for Cars with RGB LEDs and the XKchrome app.
Rules vary by state, so read what four state codes say before you drive with underglow lit. Chasing the old-school glow instead? Our side-by-side of neon tube car lights shows how LED tubes recreate it.
LED Grille Lights for Cars and Panel-Gap Strips
Up front, the XKmax RGB LED Grill Light Bar does three jobs: a white daytime running light, an amber sequential turn signal and RGB color chasing. It comes in pairs of 6, 9 or 14 inches, rated IP67. Most stock or aftermarket car grilles can take it, and the same goes for trucks and UTVs.
Our grille light bar comparison covers the three sizes and both mounting methods.
The XKmax Atomix Universal Accent Strip Light Kit sets addressable RGB strips into body panel gaps; our exterior LED strips guide matches its four kits to body lines.
Rock Lights and LED Lights for Car Rims
The XKmax RGBW LED Rock Light Kit is built for off-road use, yet its fitment line names cars alongside Jeeps, trucks and ATVs. Each aluminum-housed pod is RGBW. Kits come with 4, 8 or 12 pods, and only the 12-pod kit includes the key fob. Add-on pods sell in 2- and 4-packs, and XKGLOW confirms one system runs up to 30 pods.
The car rock lights guide shows 4-, 8- and 12-pod layouts on a car.
Wheel rings bolt to the back of the brake dust shields, and XKGLOW calls them rim lights too. The XKmax LED Wheel Ring Lights kit ships four RGBW rings, each one potted, IP67 rated and made of reinforced aluminum. Hook up the sensor leads and each ring becomes a turn signal or brake light, or it follows the courtesy lamps.
The XKmax LED Ultra 3-Row Wheel Ring Lights put three LED rows in each ring, in 16.5- or 15.5-inch sizes. XKGLOW's XKchrome ring kit costs less, from $362.99, and blinks amber with your turn signal.
Every ring kit lists 4+ hours of install time, and the job means removing the brake calipers and rotors to reach the dust shield. The full price ladder, add-ons included, sits in our breakdown of wheel lighting costs.
How to Install LED Lights in a Car
Listed install times run from 1 to 2 hours for the grille bar to 4+ hours for wheel rings. The underglow and rock kits list 2 to 3 hours, and the fiber-optic kit 1 to 6.
The XKmax underglow, rock light, Atomix and wheel ring instruction sheets all begin with a bench test of every component before anything is mounted. If a plug resists, line up its pins rather than forcing it. After power-up, you download the XKmax app and scan the QR code printed on the sheet to load your kit's preset. Adding lights later? They need configuring in the app.
The sheets recommend installation by a licensed professional, and several state that improper installation can void the warranty. Prefer a pro? Most of these product pages link to the dealer locator. Warranty terms differ by product too, and the warranty policy gives the individual product's term priority, so read it on each product page before you buy.
Which Car LED Lights to Buy First
Start where the build gets seen. Underglow and the grille bar set the outside, interior kits are the light you sit in, and rock lights and wheel rings finish the lower line. Staying in the XKmax line keeps every zone on one app.
The top tier of the XKmax LED Underglow Light Kit bundles the interior strips, the underbody tubes and four long strips meant for the wheel wells. The same underglow kit offers the four-ring XKmax wheel light kit as an add-on.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which LED lights are the best for cars?
The best car LED lights are the ones that suit the zone you want lit and the way you want to control it. For white as well as color, choose RGBW, as in XKGLOW's XKmax underglow, rock light and wheel ring kits. For phone control, the XKmax app runs every XKmax kit in this guide.
How much do LED car lights cost?
At list prices at the time of writing, the app-controlled dome bulb kit costs $42.89, and XKmax interior kits run $179.99 to $499.99. Underglow spans $167.99 for the remote-control UFO kit to $1,179.99 for the largest ULTRA kit. Wheel ring kits start at $362.99.
Can you legally put LED lights in your car?
It depends on where you drive, because each state sets its own lighting rules. California Vehicle Code section 25250, for example, says "Flashing lights are prohibited on vehicles except as otherwise permitted." The XKmax instruction sheets add a reminder to check local and state laws before use. This is general information, not legal advice.
